Meet Shannon

Current focus

Shannon’s current focus is on perinatal care (pregnancy + postpartum), Manual Lymphatic Drainage, scar work, post-surgical rehab and temporomandibular joint dysfunction ("TMJD" or jaw dysfunction/pain). She also offers a really unique treatment called Thai-MASHiatsu (aka: Mashing), that uses body weight and foot pressure.

I view human beings as whole systems, mind body and spirit — and apply it to my practice accordingly.

A modern approach

I believe that a therapist is simply facilitating a body through its healing process. This is achieved through deep listening, touch, strategic manipulation of tissues, encouragement of breath, body awareness by the patient, education, and recommendations for self-care.

Background

In my post-school world travels, I discovered my passion for yoga and Reiki. After completing the Spa Therapy program at Vancouver School of Bodywork & Massage, I practiced as a Holistic Massage and Bodywork Practitioner in Whistler, BC for two years. Seeking more knowledge, I pursued a 2,200-hr Massage Therapy diploma at Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy in Halifax, NS, graduating with honours.

Since becoming a Registered Massage Therapist in BC, I’ve furthered my education in various massage therapy approaches. Postpartum including post-cesarean, scar tissue, myofascial release, cranial-sacral therapy, visceral manipulation and manual lymphatic drainage. And yes, I'm also a proud mom!
